Deb Leal is a multi-media artist based in Oakland, CA. She graduated with a BFA in Fine Art Photography from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2011; Milwaukee, WI. Leal moved to the Bay Area in the summer of 2013 to explore and expand her skills as a fine artist in the West Coast landscape.
Leal gravitates to picture-making for both work and pleasure; In the freelance world, she specializes in shooting cocktails for bars and liquor companies in studio. As a director, she has been integrating her love of fashion editorial within her studio sessions in order to bring depth and narrative to her work, notably with music videos and cocktail styling. She shoots primarily film for both personal fine artwork and collaborations with other creatives.
Her work has been featured in Vogue, InStyle, Remezcla, SF Chronicle, SF Station, SF Weekly, Eater, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Stuart Pilkington’s “The Swap”, and many more.
In 2016, Leal founded her brand Handfast Hotel — a curated art house featuring hand embroidered denim jackets and hand carved wood that studies the act of ritual
